MoviePass Suspends Service To Improve App

MoviePass Suspends Service To Improve App

The theater subscription service MoviePass has suspended operations while they finish up improvements on their app. The news comes in the wake of Regal Cinemas plans to unveil thehir own monthly subscription service, which you can read about in the RELATED section.

If you’ve been following the MoviePass situation you know the company had not had a good last few months and to me it’s a surprise the company is still functioning, but perhaps the work they’re putting in can turn the company around.

The Lost Boys TV Series Starting From Scratch, Will Recast All But Two Roles

Just when you thought The CW’s TV reboot of The Lost Boys was gaining some momentum, Deadline brings word that the project has effectively been sent back to the drawing board – recasting all but two roles.

Of the ensemble that was in place for The Lost Boys, only two – namely Medalion Rahimi and Dakota Shapiro – remain. The former is attached to the part of Stella (essentially an updated version of the Star character from ’87), while Shapiro is David.

According to Deadline, together they’ll headline the “new, reworked pilot, which will likely film by the end of the year.” So, while they initially signed on for The CW’s pilot episode, the likes of Rio Mangini (Sam) Sarah Hay, Del Zamora, Cheyenne Haynes, Haley Tju, Tyler Posey and Kiele Sanchez won’t be heading to the vampire underworld, after all.

The-Lost-Boys

It’s a pity, really, but given the fact that The CW had already announced plans to reshoot the pilot episode filmed by Catherine Hardwicke back in May, we’re not all that surprised. The priority now is to ensure The Lost Boys still emerges from the other end of this troubled production spell, otherwise it’ll be remembered as a colossal missed opportunity.

But there’s still reason to be hopeful; per Deadline, the network’s top brass reportedly “loved the script” by Heather Mitchell, it’s just that “not all elements in the pilot came together in the execution, including casting, thus their decision to re-pilot the project.”

As things stand, The Lost Boys is expected to go before the cameras before the year’s end, by which point The CW will surely have a new ensemble in place. More on this project as it begins to undergo its radical transformation.

New CEO Ann Sarnoff To Make Rounds At Warner Bros. Next Week

Warner Bros Ann Sarnoff

Warner Bros Ann SarnoffWarner Bros. has found its new CEO in Ann Sarnoff and she is set to make her rounds at the company to meet its key staff next week.

According to insiders, the incoming CEO of Warner Bros is set to meet with the various division heads of the company. While Ann Sarnoff will not take the leadership of Warner Bros until August, the meetings will allow for some face to face time with the division heads, allowing her the opportunity to get to know her new company. A larger companywide address is far more likely after she officially takes the position.

Ann Sarnoff was announced as the new CEO of Warner Bros last month. This followed a three month period where Warner Bros. had a temporary CEO after the resignation of Kevin Tsujihara. Tsujihara resigned as CEO and Chairman of Warner Bros. following an investigation into his past relationship with an actress who apparently sought his help getting acting roles during a sexual relationship the two shared. But it looks like Warner Bros. may be in good hands with Ann Sarnoff.

Ann Sarnoff has previously worked as an executive for BBC. Before then she worked in a variety of positions at the WNBA, Dow Jones and Viacom. Since Ann Sarnoff’s announcement as CEO, morale has reportedly improved at Warner Bros. with employees able to focus on there work as opposed to the fate of the company. Hopefully, this will lead to better days for Warner Bros.

What do you all make of this news? Are you looking forward to seeing Warner Bros. under a new CEO? Is Ann Sarnoff qualified to run the company? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ Breaks Tuesday Box Office Record, New Tarantino Movie Headed Towards $30M Opening

far from home box office

The summer box office may be a bit dismal, but things are looking up for Spider-Man. Spider-Man: Far From Home, the latest Spidey adventure, had the best Tuesday opening ever, suggesting that audiences will embrace at least one summer blockbuster this year. Far From Home got a jump on the Independence Day box office, and will likely only increase its haul over the long holiday weekend.

While Far From Home is appealing to audiences of all ages, Quentin Tarantino‘s more adult-oriented Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is eyeing a $30 million opening weekend this month.

All summer long, we’ve been hearing the same thing: blockbusters are doomed! No one is going to see them! The end is nigh! But some summer movies are going to come out ahead. Like Spider-Man: Far From Home, for instance. The movie has only been out for about 24 hours now, and its already breaking records. Per THR, the latest MCU adventure scored $39.3 million on Tuesday, making it “the best showing ever for a movie opening on a Tuesday, not adjusted for inflation.” It’s also the biggest Tuesday gross for any movie ever, beating previous record holder Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The long holiday weekend is on the way, which will likely inspire even more moviegoers to swing into the multiplex to catch Peter Parker and all his pals. It certainly doesn’t hurt that the film has received rave reviews, currently sitting at 94% on Rotten Tomatoes.

In all fairness, you probably could’ve guessed that Far From Home would do well. It has the always-successful MCU branding, and it’s also coming on the heels of the huge Avengers: Endgame. But not every movie opening this month is part of a franchise. Before July ends, theaters will see the release of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the latest film from Quentin Tarantino.

Tarantino’s latest scored acclaim at Cannes (it’s at 92% on RT), but will that excitement carry over to general audiences? Especially since the film is more adult-driven, with the usual Tarantino R-rating? Apparently…yes. Deadline says the film is headed towards a $30 million opening weekend (it opens July 26). While that’s not exactly blockbuster territory, it’s pretty damn good for a movie skewed towards adult viewers. There’s also a strong chance that number can jump up if word of mouth is good. Then again, people love to complain about a lack of original, non-franchise, adult-driven movies all the time – only to ignore such films when they actually open. So we’ll see how it goes.

Does ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ Tease A Fantastic Four Appearance?

Spider-Man Fantastic Four

Spider-Man Fantastic FourSpider-Man: Far From Home opened the Marvel Cinematic Universe in some big ways but it seems that it may have also hinted at the arrival of the Fantastic Four.

The Fantastic Four hint in question happens towards the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home. During the scene, Spider-Man is swinging through New York City before ending up in front of Avengers Tower. You may remember that in Spider-Man: Homecoming Tony Stark sold the tower after moving the Avengers base to another location. But it seems that the tower may have found a buyer in the Fantastic Four.

The Fantastic Four tease in question in the Spider-Man film is so subtle that you may have missed it altogether. In front of the former Avengers tower is a sign that says “We Can’t Wait To Show You What Comes Next”. The sentence was broken up with the numbers 1, 2, 3 and a mysterious question mark. While this does not confirm anything it’s the closest that we’ve seen to any kind of teaser for the Fantastic Four since the Disney buyout of Fox.

When asked about the sign by Comicbook.com, Marvel Studio President Kevin Feige said that he hadn’t seen the sign:

I didn’t see a sign there yet. I always think the speculation fuels it, whether that speculation is correct, as it sometimes is, or if that speculation is wrong, as it often is.

Did you happen to catch this Fantastic Four teaser? Do you think that it hints at an upcoming Fantastic Four film? Should the Fantastic Four take over the former Avengers tower? When would you like to see the Fantastic Four in the MCU? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Here’s the official synopsis for Spider-Man: Far From Home:

Spider-Man: Far From Home starring Tom Holland is now playing in theaters.

Venom Concept Art Reveals Ridiculous Chest Symbol Designs For Tom Hardy

Previous1 of 22

Ruben Fleischer Venom Sony Tom Hardy Marvel Spider-Man Birds of Prey IMAXNew concept artwork for Tom Hardy's Venom shows off several versions of the symbiote chest symbol, revealing the designs for what we could have gotten in the film.

It's safe to say that Tom Hardy's Venom wasn't enjoyed much by critics, but fans seemed to have liked it given how well it did at the box office. The film lacked modern elements of a superhero film and felt like it disregarded storytelling, a tight plot and a convincing story for its characters. Nevertheless, the action sequences and the CGI for the Venom characters were outstanding. Be that as it may, many fans missed the fact that Venom himself didn't feature the classic white spider on his chest, which was a big let-down after several years waiting for a new iteration of the Spider-man baddie after the whole Topher Grace fiasco in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3.

Well, new concept artwork revealed by The Venom Site recently surfaced and it features a white chest brand for Tom Hardy, but not the classic white spider. Nevertheless, it's a more comic accurate look for Tom Hardy than the one we saw in the film. Check out the pictures in the gallery below.

Tom Hardy Venom

Venom follows Eddie Brock as he attempts to revive his journalism career by investigating the Life Foundation only to come into contact with an alien symbiote that bonds with him, granting him powers and transforming him into the titular anti-hero.

A sequel to Venom is currently in the works at Sony Pictures with writer Kelly Marcel. Hardy, Williams, and Harrelson are expected to return, but Fleischer likely won’t be back in the director’s chair as he’s busy shooting the studio’s Zombieland sequel.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer from a script by Jeff Pinkner & Scott Rosenberg and Kelly Marcel, the film stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Scott Haze, Reid Scott, Jenny Slate, Ron Cephas Jones, and Woody Harrelson.

One of Marvel’s greatest and most complex characters takes center stage as Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) becomes the host for the alien symbiote Venom. As a journalist, Eddie has been trying to take down the notorious founder of the Life Foundation, genius Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed) – and that obsession ruined his career and his relationship with his girlfriend, Anne Weying (Michelle Williams).

Upon investigating one of Drake’s experiments, the alien Venom merges with Eddie’s body, and he suddenly has incredible new superpowers, as well as the chance to do just about whatever he wants. Twisted, dark, unpredictable, and fueled by rage, Venom leaves Eddie wrestling to control dangerous abilities that he also finds empowering and intoxicating. As Eddie and Venom need each other to get what they’re looking for, they become more and more intertwined — where does Eddie end and Venom begin?

Venom is now available on Digital HD and on 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack, and DVD.
