Destiny 2 Coming to Google Stadia

A new report suggests that Destiny 2 will be one of Google Stadia's launch titles.

Destiny 2 on Google Stadia

Destiny 2 is coming to Google Stadia, according to Kotaku, which has heard from its sources that Bungie's loot shooter will be one of the launch titles announced for the cloud gaming service during tomorrow's live stream presentation. This means that Destiny 2 will become available on both PC and mobile devices through the service if all goes to plan with Stadia.

Additionally, dataminers have found evidence that "cross-save" features are coming to the game. This would allow players to transfer their Guardians between Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. PlayStation 4's participation with this new feature is still "up in the air," according to Kotaku.

Google will announce more of its initial lineup as well as its pricing model during its first Stadia Direct broadcast. Kotaku reports that Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is also coming to the service, which isn't surprising since Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Odyssey was the title used to showcase the new streaming technology. As for the business model, Kotaku suggests that a "combination of subscription and a la carte pricing" will be offered by the service.

All of this comes at an interesting time for Destiny, too. No longer partnered with Activision on the publishing side, Bungie has taken its loot shooter franchise completely into its own hands. The first post-Activision expansion, Shadowkeep, was leaked by dataminers earlier this week. It promises a return to the Moon, where Guardians will likely be tasked with fighting back the Hive once again.

Adding cross-save and Google Stadia support is evidence of how Bungie plans to expand Destiny's reach beyond consoles and traditional PC channels. Certainly, there will be more than a few fans who will love being able to take Destiny 2 on the go on their phones or tablets. Those who don't have high-end PCs capable of handling the game at max settings will also be grateful.

We'll learn much more about Destiny and Google Stadia's plan tomorrow. Stay tuned for more updates!
