Quentin Tarantino is Developing a DJANGO/ZORRO Movie with Jerrod Carmichael

For those of you who didn’t know, there is a crossover comic book series called that features Django from Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained movie and the legendary Zorro. It’s called Django/Zorro and it’s headed to the big screen!

Quentin Tarantino, who wrote the comic with Matt Wagner, is developing the project with Jerrod Carmichael, who will write the script for the film. The story takes place several years after the events of Django Unchained and here’s the synopsis:

The official Django Unchained sequel, uniting the gun-blazing Western hero with the legendary swordsman of literature, film, and comics: Zorro! Set several years after the events of Django Unchained, Django again pursues evil men in his role as a bounty hunter. Taking to the roads of the American Southwest, he encounters the aged and sophisticated Diego de la Vega by sheer chance. Django is fascinated by this unusual character, the first wealthy white man he’s met who seems totally unconcerned with the color of his skin… and who can hold his own in a fight. Django hires on as Diego’s bodyguard, and is soon drawn into a fight to free the local indigenous people from brutal servitude. Learning much from the older man (as he did from King Schultz), he discovers that slavery isn’t exclusive to his people, as he even dons the mask of Zorro in their mission of mercy!

There’s no word yet on if Tarantino will co-write and direct the film, but that is a possibility. Collider reports, “the film adaptation is real and that Carmichael is working on the script, though they differ on whether he’s writing it on his own with oversight from Tarantino, or co-writing with Quentin himself as well as another, as-yet-unidentified writer.”

This could seriously be an awesome movie! I hope that Tarantino directs it, but even if he doesn’t there’s an extremely fun story to be told on the big screen here. I also hope that Jamie Foxx comes back to reprise his role as Django!

What do you think about Django/Zorro getting a feature film adaptation!?
