Last year, Netflix announced it will develop new film and television projects based on C.S. Lewis’ revered The Chronicles of Narnia series. Now, Coco co-writer Matthew Aldrich has been hired to serve as the creative architect who will shepherd the development of the Netflix adaptations, which will consist of a set of films and at least one series telling stories from across the Chronicles of Narnia landscape.

All Chronicles of Narnia adaptations produced through the deal will be Netflix productions. Mark Gordon of Entertainment One will serve as an executive producer for the series’ alongside Douglas Gresham and Vincent Sieber. All three will board the features as producers.

Matthew Aldrich is best known for co-writing the screenplay for Pixar’s acclaimed film Coco, which centered on a young boy’s journey during Mexico’s Day of the Dead. The animated hit garnered several awards, including the Oscar for Best Animated Feature.

The Chronicles of Narnia series consists of seven books set in the eponymous fantastical land, the most well known of the saga being The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
