Keanu Reeves shocked the E3 2019 audience by revealing his appearance in Cyberpunk 2077.

Keanu Reeves Cyberpunk 2077

One of the biggest surprises of E3 2019 was certainly the reveal of Keanu Reeves in Cyberpunk 2077.  Yes, John Wick himself took the stage during Xbox's E3 2019 conference to lend a considerable amount of celebrity power to a game that we were already pretty excited about. Needless to say, there was much screaming and bowing from those in attendance to witness what has to be the greatest celebrity appearance in E3 history.

As for Keanu's role in the game, that remains unknown. His appearance comes at the end of the latest preview for the game and sees Keanu help who we assume is going to be the player character. He leans down, takes off his glasses, and seems to refer to the player as a "samurai" before saying that they have a city to burn.

Interestingly, there is a band in Cyberpunk 2020 (which seem to appear in 2077) that is called Samurai. They're led by a vocalist named Johnny Silverhand, who we suppose Keanu Reeves could be playing. However, it feels just as likely that samurai is just a popular phrase in this world given the mercenary nature of many of its inhabitants. That being the case, it's also quite possible that Keanu is some kind of trainer.

The idea that Keanu wants to burn the city down is also quite interesting. It's likely that he's referring to the corporations in the town rather than literally burning it all to the ground, but that one line does suggest that Keanu may have a more significant role in the game than just a cameo. Actually, it sounds like he might actually be playing a major character.

Check out the trailer for yourself:

And here's footage of the man himself on the E3 2019 stage being as cool as humanly possible:

We'll bring you more on Keanu's role in the game as information becomes available, but for the moment, be sure to check out our breakdown on everything you need to know about Cyberpunk 2077 as well as our look at things you may have missed in the first gameplay demo
