The intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo is going to be making his big debut tonight on the season premiere of DC’s Krypton on the SyFy Channel. Well, it looks like we are going to be seeing a lot more of the character as it’s been announced that he’s already going to get his very own spinoff series!
Emmett J. Scanlan, who is playing Lobo in season two of Krypton, will reprise his role in the spinoff, which is currently in development. The Lobo series will be written and executive produced by Cameron Welsh, who is also an EP on Krypton. Here’s a little description that was offered from THR:
Lobo is from the peaceful planet of Czarnia. He was born a devil in the midst of utopia. Loosely translated from his native language, his name means "he who devours your entrails and thoroughly enjoys it." As a teenager, he single-handedly slaughtered his entire civilization, becoming the last of his race. Now the mercenary roams the universe on his motorcycle, getting paid for what he loves most: murder and mayhem.
Warner Bros. is also still developing a Lobo feature film project, which Micheal Bay is looking to direct. WB has been trying to get a Lobo movie off the ground for years and during that time talent such as Will Smith, Dwayne Johnson, Guy Richie and Brad Peyton have all been connected to it during certain time of development.
Lobo is a freakin’ cool character and I’m happy to learn that he’s going to be getting his own series. It’ll be interesting to see if WB will still move forward with Bay’s film if this series ends up being ordered.
What do you think of Lobo getting his own solo TV series? Would you rather see that or a Michael Bay directed movie? Hey! We might end up getting both!
