Max Landis Banned From ‘Chronicle’ Set, Josh Trank Reveals

Max Landis Josh Trank Chronicle

Max Landis Josh Trank ChronicleJosh Trank has revealed that he himself banned Chronicle writer Max Landis from visiting the set during principal photography following the emergence of new abuse allegations which the director said made him sick.

Earlier today, The Daily Beast published a revealing expose in which seven women came forward with allegations of sexual and mental abuse. An eighth woman also confirmed that she had filed a police report against Max Landis for sexual assault in 2008 but later dropped the case. The details of the allegations include rape, choking, humiliation, and misconduct on film sets. One of the women who came forward, only identified as Julie, alleges that Max Landis repeatedly raped her over the course of their two-year relationship. Three of his ex-girlfriends: Ani Baker, Dani Manning, and one woman identified as Kerry alleged enduring physical and emotional abuse while in contact with the Hollywood screenwriter.

Following these details coming to light, Chronicle director Josh Trank took to Twitter to show his support for Max Landis’ accusers, adding that he banned the writer from visiting the set of the film for which he wrote the script. You can check out Josh Tranks tweet regarding Max Landis below.

In addition to the new abuse allegations, The Daily Beast also revealed that Max Landis has been dropped as a producer from Shadow in the Cloud, the upcoming Chloe Grace Mortez film which is currently in production. Moretz told The Guardian in April that Max Landis is also no longer involved with the project as a writer.

“We’ve completely distanced ourselves from him. We’ve rewritten it several times now.”

Shadow in the Cloud isn’t the only production distancing itself from Max Landis. MGM has also removed Deeper — a spec script Max Landis wrote which has Idris Elba attached to star — from their release calendar entirely. Netflix also opted to move forward on a sequel to David Ayer’s Bright without Max Landis following abuse allegations that emerged in December of 2017.

Variety also reports that according to insiders, Max Landis is no longer being repped at CAA.
