Tom Holland’s ‘Uncharted’ Film In ‘Advanced Development’ Says Sony CEO

Shawn Levy Uncharted Tom Holland

Shawn Levy Uncharted Tom HollandAccording to Sony Pictures Entertainment’s chairman and CEO Tony Vinciquerra, the Tom Holland led Uncharted film is now in “advanced development” with the Spider-Man: Far From Home star playing the lead role of a young Nathan Drake.

Vinciquerra provided the updated on the project alongside the announcement of the Twisted Metal television series at the company’s event held for investors earlier this week.

Sony Pictures Entertainment has been developing an Uncharted film as well as other films based around other interactive properties for some years now. One of the issues that Sony has had trouble with however is landing and keeping a director to helm the film.

The film’s first director David O’ Russell who directed The Fighter left the film in 2011. Its second director Shawn Levy who directed Real Steel and episodes of Stranger Things left the project back in 2018. Since then Sony has found a suitor for Uncharted with 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg.

It’s hard to ignore the star power that Spider-Man: Far From Home star Tom Holland brings to the project. Since his introduction as the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War, Tom Holland has become sort of a household name. Having Uncharted focus on a younger Nathan Drake will help the film appeal to a more general audience as well as hopefully bring along fans of the web-slinger out the theaters.

What do you think about a Tom Holland led Uncharted film? What would you like to see from a live action adaption of the Uncharted franchise? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

Based on the PlayStation video game series of the same name, the Uncharted film is set to star Spider-Man actor Tom Holland as a young Nathan Drake and chronicles his first encounter with the fortune seeker and businessman Victor Sullivan. The film reportedly takes influence from a sequence in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.

Joe Carnahan (The Grey) penned a draft of the script, which he described as an R-rated take that remained faithful to the adult language used in the games. However, a new writer was said to be sought after Sony decided to rework to project to center on a young Nathan Drake.

Uncharted is being produced by Charles Roven, Avi Arad, Alex Gartner, and Ari Arad.

Top Actors To Replace Ben Affleck In Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’

Batman Ben Affleck Matt ReevesBen Affleck is officially out as Batman and it’s a pretty sad day.

Words cannot describe how sad I am to see Ben Affleck announce that he’s no longer Batman. His Batman is why I do what I do. In Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, I fell in love with his comic book-accurate interpretation of the Caped Crusader. It was a breath of fresh air and it felt like we finally had the one true Batman.

Three years have quickly sped by and we’re officially going to receive a new Batman for his next movie. Last night, Ben Affleck announced that he will not return as the Dark Knight in Matt Reeves’ The Batman and now everyone’s attention has moved towards wanting to know who the next Bruce Wayne will be. Matt Reeves is said to want an actor that’s around 20 years younger than Affleck while Warner Bros. wants someone older. My guess is that Reeves wants a fresh start while the studio wants an older actor for crossover potential.

In this list, I will discuss the actors I think can replace Ben Affleck as Batman using the parameters that Matt Reeves and Warner Bros. want. Hit Next to see our picks to play the Batman.
